Antique Painted Furniture

We’ve spent many years perfecting our spray lacquering technique, which we think is far superior to hand-painting as it offers a smoother and more consistent finish, and we’re sure you’ll agree the quality is superb.

We take great care to work sympathetically with the antique when restoring, this ensures that the finish we choose is in keeping with its age and character.

Shabby Chic

Like our antique painted furniture all our Shabby Chic pieces are restored then spray lacquered to ensure theres nothing shabby about our chic pieces.

A lot of our Shabby Chic pieces are French and we have authentic Chiffoniers, Armoires and bedside cabinets just waiting for someone to give them a new home.

Industrial Chic

If you simply must have the latest 'on trend' furniture then you probably already know that Industrial Chic is the hottest style at the moment.

Our Industrial Chic pieces are typically created from upcycled vintage items that have had a previous working life in offices, factories or even on ships.

A couple of prime examples of Industrial Chic are our filing cabinets and ships lanterns.

Any piece of antique furniture we sell or restore on your behalf can be painted in your preferred colour – just tell us which colour you like from the Farrow and Ball range or from Fired Earth’s collection and we will match the colour
We often get asked by our customers which colours go well with antique furniture – so we’ve sourced a selection of ten colours below whose classic, muted tones complement Victorian and Edwardian furniture perfectly.

Colour Options

Please note that colours on a computer screen may look different to those in real life so when it comes to selecting a paint
colour for your piece of furniture, please refer to printed samples or request one of our free samples.

All White - Neutral. Only different coloured white pigments but no modern brighteners used to formulate this bright white.

painted furniture

Pavilion Gray - Cool. A lighter, less blue version of Lamp Room Gray, reminiscent of an elegant colour used in Sweden in the late 18th century

painted furniture

James White - Neutral. A discerning James whose name appears over and over again requesting this lightish broken off-white for use with Farrow & Ball colours.

painted furniture

Elephants Breath - Warm / Neutral. A personal match for this famously named colour by John Fowler. Use as a colour in its own right, or as part of a 'stone' scheme.

painted furniture

Strong White - Neutral. A bright, clean white when used with dark colours. Or if used with light colours it becomes cool.

painted furniture

Hardwick White - Neutral. The colourway used to touch up old white limewash at Hardwick Hall. Probably not thought of as white except in large areas or with strong dark colours.

painted furniture

Blackened - Neutral / Cool. Simply made with the addition of 'lamp black', a pigment made by collecting the residue from burnt lamp oil.

painted furniture

Pigeon - Based on late 18th and 19th century paint sections.

painted furniture

Cornforth White - Neutral / Cool. In memory of John Cornforth, architectural historian and author of the landmark publication English Decoration in the 18th Century.

painted furniture

Charleston Gray - Strong neutral. The Bloomsbury Group used this colour extensively, both in interior decoration and on canvas.
